Think I will open the hive and drop in a beekeeping book for them to read and FOLLOW!!! nature eh???

Loads of new queen cells in hive two - but can I find the Queen - nope, so I think maybe they swarmed? thing is there are the same amount of bees in there-give or take a few hundred (no- I am not going to count them ) So will have another look later in the week.
    Plenty of stores coming in
No queen cells in hive one and only slightly less bees ????

I look at the fields around me - some rape almost finished flowering other rape not even close to flowering - me thinks it's going to be an interesting year!

I look forward to following your year Headfry, it is doubtful that there are going to be enough nucs for all who want one this year so I can only keep my fingers crossed that I will get one

Lol HF, I dont think the bees have read the same books as us, ours certainly seem to do things how they want rather than how its 'supposed' to be (according to the books!)

Hi vicky....here is the numpty bit.....
I was so struck by wonderful smell of the hive and amount of queen cells, larva, and looking for my blue dot queen I did not even look (as I normally would during an inspection) for EGGS
I was really angry with myself for my bad beekeeping. Made sure I looked for eggs when going thorough second hive though......

To the back of the class with me!
