  • Will rhubarb grow in a tub

I have planted my rhubarb into an old 45/50 gallon water tank, never having tried growing rhubarb in a tub before will I be able to leave it there for several years

Probably but you will need to feed it well.

Yups I agree with that. As long as there is adequate drainage it should be ok. My only reservation is the possibility of root damage if there is a severe frost but having said that they say we should leave rhubarb roots exposed to frost before planting.

After reading many gardening books, seeking advice on many things - they all seem to agree that there is a possibility of actually killing rhubarb.
In my experience, having 'used and abused' the plant(s) over the years - I'm quite sure they'd outlive cockroaches after a nuclear oblivion.

It has a load of manure in the tub and as the tub is made of fiberglass I am hopping that this will give it some insulation against the frost

I must have made a mistake with my first post, VCs the first on to it. Ask her a question she is never there, make a mistake she is there to highlight it

What? Rary's marbles?? They'd rattle and clink a bit but I don't think they'd group.

See Kelvin thinks that rhubarb groups, after all you had to post it twice for him, though possibly he was away playing marbles
And yes Kelvin the way it spreads it does look as if it's in a group

Yes absolutely will Heck, I grew mine from seed in large conical hanging baskets for a couple years before transplanting to tubs They're in medium/large bell pots ATM and packing on growth. Just give them lots of chicken manure at the start of each season and ample water and make sure you have room for the long taproot.
                              Happy growing
