  • What Autumn and Winter Vegetables Can I Sow or Plant Now?

As I have said before I am new to vegetable growing so I’m always looking for advice. My question today is what vegetables can I plant now and in the next few months for autumn and winter harvesting?

    Best regards,
    Greg

I'm thinking of growing swede somewhere,I grew two tiny ones last year in a bucket & they were sweet, nice with roast potatoes,it's good planning ahead,I never grow enough. Runner beans, carrots, lettuce, radish, swede, turnip & rocket are on my list for July.

Depends on what you want to grow to eat and as to how much space you have!

At this time of year I would be doing the last sowing of beetroot, Spring Brassica's but now in the last chance saloon, various salad leaves, rather the oriental type as they stand better in colder conditions! swede n turnip, peas for "Pea Shoots" to name but a few!

I really need to take a leaf out of my own book!

Seeds are half price at my local GC so this evening I purchsed Fennel to be sown now,Red kale to be sown now and Ball headed spring cabbage to be sown in August.
The ball cabbage will be the only F1 hybrid on my plot, but I had to purchase it as I have grown it before and as far as i know there is no open pollinated Round spring cabbage.

I finished sowing spring cabbage and kale just 10 minutes ago.

My sowings for July and August will be florence fennel, runner beans, spring cabbage, mizuna, namenia, pak choi, winter spinach, chinese celery, corn salad and kohlrabi if I can find the space for it. I also keep a good supply of indoor grown salads of various sorts - lettuce, mixed salad leaves, pea shoots, microgreens and sprouting seeds, all of which are successionally sown throughout winter.
