  • Vege patch advice?

I am allowed to dig up the lawn for a 6x6ft square to create a vegetable patch in the garden (yey told you all Id talk the mother around )
So I was just womdering how to go about improving the soil there. Under neath the top layer is clay soil so we were thinking of raising the patch slightly, is this a good idea?

What other steps should I take to make it the best patch possible? I ask now because i got to do my research for later on in the year

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks,
    From a very chuffed New_Bud

    Dig in loads of compost.

What do you mean by raising the patch slightly? Digging in compost will increase the height slightly and you could border the bed with boards to make a raised bed and fill in with topsoil/more compost.
