  • Thai vegetables

I bought from A$da's fresh veg counter their "Thai Selection" for £1:-
3 red Thai Shallots (now sprouting in a pot)
3 stems of lemon grass (in water, one may be rooting)
a root of galangal (in a pot)
Garlic cloves (that look browner skinned than the usual ones - going in a pot)
3 Bird's Eye Chillies (dunno yet)

If you want to try growing something different, this is a cheap way of starting

Beat all hell out of them, make into a paste and add chicken.
You're not supposed to grow them, you're supposed to eat them.
Make a nice Thai Red Curry.
    Bleedin gardeners, whatever next?

    Only one lemon grass rooting?

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
