  • Scabiola Verde Broad Beans

I have two lots of broadies to sow, The Sutton, which I am familiar with and Scabiola Verde which I am not.

There are no height details on the packet and I can't find any height details online, so wondered if anyone on here had grown them and what there eventual height was.
I know they are tall, but wondered how tall, so I can build a support frame.

Snadger can't find any info on height but here it says to 'Run strings both sides along the double row at 12in (30cm) and 24in (60cm) from the ground, supporting stems as they grow'

    hope this helps

RHS say that Scabiola Verde is "tentative name" and another had "Aquadulce" in brackets after it.
I'd grow it like any other tall broadie.

I've grown Aquadulce before and they made 4 to 5 foot high so I'll plan for this. The reason I asked is because I have some 4 foot stakes which when knocked into the ground will only give a 3 foot height.
Think I need some 6 foot canes/stakes to do the business.
