  • Planting Nut trees...

Me again hope you are all well?

Hubby and I are slowing changing dead items from our garden beds and I was wondering about a couple of not too big nut trees... from searching our weather doesn't help with many I guess? Almonds no because of frost, Walnut no because of size if tree? Down to hazelnuts, sweet chestnuts? Would this be a worthy idea or am I looking at squirrels eating most?

One of my areas has a small red leaf Acer but other wise more space maybe total of 9ish meters.

    Thank you thank you

You could consider a purple filbert, they are very attractive and ornamental, so even if the squirrels get the nuts you'll still enjoy the tree. Unless you have a lot of space a sweet chestnut may be too large.

Sweet Chestnuts are huge trees and need a lot of warm weather to get the nuts to a decent size.
