Ordered a load of seeds last night for next years growing. Thinking ahead a lot at the moment as not long had my allotment and won't be ready for this years growing

So glad to know I am not alone. Even tho I have things growing I am always trying to decided what to grow next year and where and how I can make it better.

Same here - I don't really seem to have "years" just a continuous shuffling of plants into spaces or vacant pots when they appear. The only exception would be when I have removed a crop and I'm waiting to plant something that isn't ready to go out yet, but that usually equates to a compost break.

Can't think about next year yet, only harvested Japanese onions (poor) and garlic (fantastic ) so far this year, everything else, late or slow plus dry plus frooglepoopillions of slugs as it was wet, despite the plants being dry

Need to eat something this year before planning next....

I have drawn up a 5 year rotation plan but if it is still valid later in the year is another matter. One thing I have planned is to not grow so many weeds

I am eagerly reading this thread to get ideas for next year as it will be my first to plant my 4veggie beds. Am also keeping a close eye on "what's in what's out" thread.

If you develop a plan Bal, focus on what you will eat, in my first year I grow everything and anything. Far better focusing on what you will use. If you do try something new scale it back a little.

I was the same when I first started out. I was growing things that I and nobody else in the house eat. This year I am trying to grow for the first time cabbage and cauli. I am really into my salads so is am growing this year, cucumber , tomatoes, raddishs, strawberries, sweetcorn and lettuce. Oh and herbs I am growing.
Next year I think I am going to grow more veriaty of lettuce, salad leaves, cucmber, tomatoes, raddishs, sweet corn, beetroot and spring onions. Just hope I have better luck with the strawberries then I have this year.

I only have a half (120m2) plot at the moment and I've had to shoe horn everything in a bit close. I'm hoping that next year, i'll be getting a full sized plot which will be next to my existing half plot.

That way, I can space things out a bit and grow a few more of the things I eat...such as leeks, parsnips, sprouts etc....all that lovely winter roast dinner food. I'll also have the space to put my greenhouse up....12 foot x 10 foot !!!!!

                      Roll on next year.

I'll be growing the same as I did this year, and every year

with a few adjustments: this year has been hot & dry, so I put in a couple rows of lentil and mung beans. Last year was a cold wet spring, but I got lentils & chickpeas out of it, soya beans too

Heck no. I have major plans for my first half plot. Taking paths out, hacking things down, moving fruit bushes and general hacking things. I know hacking things is in there twice but its a great stress buster.
Am planning to go through seeds again to see what I need for next year. Have got an allotment book full of notes, descriptions and plans for this year. Just going back through it to redrawn plans up for next year.
Quite sad really as its like wishing your life away. Soon I'll be waiting for autumn to come so I can dig my fruit bushes up and other things up, then winter for Christmas, then spring to appear so I can start planting then back to summer for the warm weather.
