My romanos are looking like they won't turn red this year. Are the seeds likely to be any use to save?

No, they need to be fully ripe for good germination. Everything should be ripe/over ripe really. -
If the pods are fully grown and you sow them immediately (fresh,) you might get lucky (not guaranteed.) But if you were planning to dry them out and save them for sowing in spring, the chance of success is vanishingly small. They will be too soft and immature so drying them out kills them.Comment

Just in the process of saving my first seeds from a chillie pepper, I will have others on standby just in case though, plus as they are from a plant that was cross pollinated, not sure what I will get, a hybrid between a Cayenne and a Hungarian hot is on the cards lol.Last edited by burnie; 18-10-2019, 04:58 PM.Comment
