Are there any issues with using the single-use paper coffee cups as plant pots? I have my own coffee mug, but don't always remember it....

I can't see it being a problem I sow lots of my seeds in newspaper pots and they do fine.Location....East Midlands. -
The only problem I can see is that they won't last that long, you will have to pierce holes in for drainage so the wax or plastic liner will be breached which means the card of the cup could possibly start going soggy after some time.
They replaced the plastic cups in our vending machine with paper ones last year so I raided all the bins and recovered about a thousand plastic ones which I reuse so they didn't go to landfill.The day that Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck ...

I've no idea what a paper coffee cup looks like but Muddy Boots says they may have wax or plastic liners?
If they were pure paper, you could plant them straight into the ground and let them decompose, but if they're coated, would you want that left in the soil?Comment

I think that's my concern - I don't know what the lining is, and what it will decompose like. I don't mind them being single use if I can compost them.
Ah. I bit more concentrated googling found me this, which answers my question, and no, I will not be using them for plants.
