  • Onions for pickling

    How do i grow onions for pickling? Do i just select them when they are small? Also what type are m,ost suitable for pickling?

    I could be wrong but i think its silver skinned you need for the job .

      Yes, I agree, I think silverskinned are the ones recommended for pickling. I bought a packet of seed a week or so ago myself, not sowed any yet but will be doing so very soon now.

        I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite,the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
