I'm a lucky lady, my lovely OH has bought me growlamps that fit over my Vitapod propagator. My question to you all is, can I use them now and what for? I had thought maybe growing some lettuce under them (we love lettuce) and would it be too late to use the growlamps for propagating fuschia/geranium cuttings.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Not sure about the cuttings, but definitely lettuce, also pea shoots and various microgreens like cress, radish, mustard, and even things like broccoli or cabbage - you don't need to buy special "microgreen" seeds, just use anything leafy if you have loads of seeds left over. Don't have the propagator too warm for these crops as they won't like it. Room temperature or even a bit cooler is fine. I have my grow lights in a cool utility room.

Oh great, thanks Penellype. I'll give it a go then. Prop will be in a cold greenhouse so I'll just set the temp to about 15c and see what happens.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
