  • Garlic Bella Italiano

I ordered the T&M garlic special (3 different Autumn garlics and 5 Elephant garlics for £9.99) http://www.thompson-morgan.com/veget...tion/t99678pTM - its just arrived. They are unable to supply the Bella Italiano because of "poor growing conditions" and have sent Chesnok Red instead - AND a £5 Gift Voucher!
    I'm happy Thank you T&M.
Just letting you know in case you particularly wanted Bella Italiano

Well I am not! I got a £5 voucher and was substituted tiny bulbs of Lautrec for Carcassonne (5.99 for two bulbs), that I grew last year and wouldn't bother with again. I've just told their customer care department that they can have the lot back. I saw better looking seed garlic in my local garden centre in cardboard packs for £2.99. Last year's delivery was poor, but I didn't know what I was looking for. This year I do. Never again! I have signs of rotting, dark spots, mushy cloves in some cases and despite paying £5 p and p, they arrived in a thin jiffy bag. I know they can't help a poor yield/crop failure on the Carcassonne, but they never email and ask you if you want a substitute - it's just taken as red and they bung it in anyhow.

I don't even get that, the soft and hard necked business. Alas, it keeps the vamps away. And it gets eaten. Apparently, the home made stuff tastes different. Some of the bulbs were huge, on harvest; others were tiddly.

I stand by the anti vamp control thing though.

Glad I'm not the only one!! I have to agree on the anti-vamp business - I've never been attacked by one yet

                      Hi Stu..welcome..
Elephant garlic is not as strong as normal garlic and I like it thrown into the tin with a roast!!

Hi Stu and welcome from me too. Why don't you pop over and tell us a bit about yourself at Introduce Yourself! Then we can all say Hello
This will be my first time growing elephant garlic too and as Tripmeup says, its a lot milder than ordinary garlic - probably because its not really a garlic at all but is more like a leek! I don't know why they don't call it Elephant Leek really

.....maybe because it might sound like a toilet accident ??
