    Cut and come again lettuce

    Now this might sound like a stupid question... Just come back from Asda and bought a bag of salad leaves, only when I got it home and opened it it's a complete plant of several different leaves with a big root ball and lots of lovely healthy roots....Can I plant this do you think and so get more leaves off it? I have left it alone until I came here to ask

        Do I need to protect this if there is a risk of frost? Shall I keep it in greenhouse or on the patio?

          I would complain to Asda because you got roots etc, get your money back on the "salad leaves", and plant the roots in a pot and grow on for more leaves.

            Well....I think it's suppose to have the roots on, it says so on the bag, but I didn't notice. So I have planted the whole thing in a pot, gave it a good drink and sent son back to Asda for another one for tea

              Lettuces are hardy. Mine are out now.

                I put mine out yesterday lollo rossa, reine de glaces & little gem (rocket has been out for weeks) and they are all fine. I'll have some fleece at the ready though because we're forecast frost next week apparently.

                        lol Two sheds, thanks for the help. I have put it in the greenhouse, weather is awful here atm...Hope my toms will be ok in their tom house

                          Anything that has a root I tend to plant out and give it a try. See a root plant it is my motto
