    Cucumbers and pollination (La Diva???)

    Hi all

    I'm putting together the last of my seed order and trying to choose a cucumber variety to grow outdoors. I'm new to all this, but from what little I've read some cucumbers need pollinating and some don't. Is that correct? And if so, what about the variety La Diva - where does that stand in terms of pollination?

    La Diva is is an all female cuke so no worries, just let it rumble and pick regurlarly.

      I grow La Diva every year and just plant and pick, just like jackarmy

        I grew marketmore cucumbers outside last year just picked as they grew, no help with pollinating.

          I thought that the all female cucumbers produced bitter fruit if they are pollinated and are therefore recommended for greenhouse growing so you can isolate them.

            No Jay, its the ones with male and female parts that get bitter hence the advice to pick out the male flowers, all female look after themselves.

              Ridge cucumbers, however, don't seem to have that problem. I've grown marketmore and Chinese Slangen because you didn't have to pluck the male flowers

                To clarify all female cucumbers very very rarely produce male flowers, in all my years I have only ever had one bitter fruit. So I don't even look for male flowers or worry buzzies getting into the greenhouse

                So for me - they are no more difficult to grow than outside ones.

                  I have grown Passandra before which were good - Hoping these live upto the name.
