  • Cucumber Fruiting

I have for the first time this year grown the Cucumber Femspot in my mini plastic greenhouse. I have had some lovely fruit from the plant but I am now coming to the end with only one more cucumber to pick. Can anyone tell me if the plant will flower again giving me a late season crop?

    Best regards,
    Greg

In a greenhouse they carry on growing/fruiting until it gets too cold for them.
    Have you been feeding it?

Thank you for the information. The plant does get a regular feed.

Does it have any more flowers forming? I find with these female only varieties that they tend to produce large numbers of cucumbers for a while and then seem to take a breather when all of the little cucumbers go brown. Then they seem to start again. But there are flowers on them all the time.

Mine (waotoma) is open pollinated - did amazing last year but having a similar problem - no new flowers being produced and lots of the old ones shrivelled up and died.

I think the shrivelling and dying before they've got to any size is lack of pollinaters due to rain/cold/high winds, & am hoping lack of new flowers is also temperature related as it gets fed but it really hasn't felt like July/august lately - lots of cold grey weather.

Same problem here in Devon. No sun and plenty of the wet stuff. Looking on the bright side, my water butts are full!

            Best regards,

I think all you can do is leave it and see what happens, unless you need the space for something else.

Yes, that is what I think I will do. It would help I suppose if we stopped getting low pressure weather day after day with lower than average temperatures.
