  • Cordon toms in a slightly exposed garden?

Hi folks, I'm new here, and finding my feet with new crops in a new garden.
I have some 'Sweet Million' seedlings in pots on my windowsill at the moment, and am hoping to plant them out at the begining of june.
Trouble is that the garden is quite exposed to the wind( although there is a hedge at the far 'windward 'end)
The garden recieves full sun, but as we are at the top of a hill, we are buffeted in any breeze.

Should i try to encourage the plants into a more prostrate form, or will they deal with the breeze?

In hindsight, I should maybe have chosen a bush variety...hhmm maybe next year!

    Any thoughts?

    Many Thanks

    Keef

Can you erect a wind break? You could also try training them at an angle like they do with cordon fruit trees. Next year try Red Alert - outdoor bush variety with a lovely flavour!

Sweet million is one you remove the sideshoots, not sure how high they get but mine are at the top of 5 foot canes in hight they were in 2 litre pots till yesterday and now there in the smaller morisons flower buckets , i have a couple i left the side shoots on, they turn into an almighty mess/mass of vines suported by canes if you do!

The ones i have removed side shoots have many sets of tomatoes on, the ones with loads of branches have had flowers but not many and have no tomatoes
