    Chilli's - what ya growing?

    I've been sneaky and just received some more chilli seeds - I didn't buy them honest, I paid for a catalogue (just $1!) and two pkts of seeds were free.

    So I wondered what variety of chilli pepper peeps are growing?

    I'm going to try

    Jalapeno & Purple jalapeno - up for the Challenge!
    Hot Portugal
    Cayenne
    Fresno
    Hanoi Red

    and the new one, Aji Cito - a yellow chilli (capsicum baccatum).

    Has anyone grown aji cito before?

    Just the jalepeno ones for the challenge, and a mixed bag I got from the same place. I love chillies, but don't really have the room to grow them.

          I have some Big Jim and Hot Wax (thanks Alice!) and Red Cheese (ta SBP) and Early Jalapeno (from Ulla - TVM) I'd be a chilli free zone without you lot!

                I'm trying Hot Mexican, not tried growing them from seed before - was given a small jalepeno seedling last year that did ok ish so thought i'd give them a whirl this year. Any growing tips anybody?

                  Jalapeno, Purple Tiger, Prairie Fire (have an overwintered plant), Cayenne, think that's it but think I may have something else........

                  Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

                  Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

                      I got a bit more than plan but here are my collections:

                      Romanian Hot (mild to medium),
                      Anaheim ( very mild),
                      Topepo rosso(sweet),
                      Jalapeno(mild),
                      aji amarillo/ aji yellow ( medium heat),
                      Roccoto(medium heat to hot),
                      Firecracker(hot),
                      Chiltepin (very hot), this one was a free gift !

                      Plan to grow 1 of each in 2 weeks time and see how it goes as I got more chili than pepper...got to make some hot chili sauce.
                      I grow, I pick, I eat ...

                        At the weekend i will be mainly sowing -
                        De Cayenne
                        Heatwave
                        Mustard Habanero
                        Jalapeno
                        Organic Jalapeno
                        Tropical Heat
                        Prarie fire
                        Peppadew

                        and some Slovak ones
                        Beros
                        Barkol
                        Granka
                        Nigra
                        Dorota F1
                        Sladka
                        Ceresnova Koral

                        plus if i can scrounge some Hot Lemon seeds i will try these.
                        it may seem a lot but i will only let two of each grow to maturity.

                          in all probability I will just grow a couple of each as a few chillies go a long way making more room for tomato and pepper plants.

                            I think we've got a few Hot Lemon left, PM me your address & I'll stick a couple in the post for ya!

                            I'll have to have a sort out before I can list what we'll be growing this year, but it'll definately include Jalapeno & Jalapeno Tam for the Challenge

                              I was going to overwinter an Apache bush (it still had fruit ripening at Christmas!) but I'm afraid the greenfly took over and I decided it best to remove it from the greenhouse. Oh well.

                              This year, I need a change (although Apache is useful and totally foolproof I've had them for three years) so I'm trying Garden Salsa and Hungarian Hot Wax. Nothing very special, but just enough to add a kick when necessary. I'll be sowing in February sometime, and just a couple of each.
