Hi, I sowed some off my chilli seeds I had from last years crop. They have germinated after two weeks. I let the fruits dry naturally and am quite sure that the six plants I had all got pollinated. So should i be confident that this years crop will produce fruits? Or should I sow afew back up plants just incase?

What variety was last year's crop?
If it was an open-pollinated variety you should be fine (provided there was no cross pollination from other varieties nearby). However, if it was an F1 variety you may well be disappointed with a crop from saved seed.K's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden

Reply to Heated mat for Tom's and chilliesby raryI use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
