  • Can plants 'use' reflected light?

Hi - I have a west facing balcony, framed with a 'wall' of glass (floor to ceiling doors and windows)...about 5m in length. In the afternoon a huge amount of sunlight gets reflected off the glass to various other parts of the balcony (especially parts that are normally in the shade).

My question is...can my plants use this indirect reflected sunlight as sustenance or is it just a nice light show?

    Thanks!

We make 'light boxes' lined with tinfoil to make use of reflected light for seedlings on a windowsill, we paint the rear wall of a lean to greenhouse white, to make use of reflected light................so yes, plants can make use of reflected light, but need some natural light also!
