  • Can peppers and aubergines get blight?

I think there might be blight on a couple of my tomato plants in the greenhouse. The trouble is I'm going on holiday for a week so not sure what I should do as I wont be around to keep any eye on things.

I also have aubergine and pepper plants and not sure what I should do with them. They're really only starting to produce fruit now and it would be a shame to come home to find them all dead.

    Any advice? Thanks.

Blight on potatoes and tomatoes is specific to the potato family so won't affect your peppers. However aubergines are in the solanum family so theoretically could get it. I don't grow them so can't comment on how likely it is. I would remove any dodgy looking leaves from the tomatoes and hope for the best.

Peppers are part of the same family too however I've never heard of anybody's peppers or aubergines succumbing.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Without going into too much detail( cos I don't really know) but I've had a bit of a gooooogle and a lot of plants are suseptable to phytophthora apparently there are several types of infestations affecting different plants- but with similar symptoms .

P infestans causes late potato and tomato blight.

And according to this, so can peppers and aubergines!

Learn something new every day. I guess looking at the flowers you can see the relationship.

Well I got back from my hols last night and it seems it may have been a false alarm. Everything seems to be doing fine in the greenhouse and the green tomatoes are now starting to ripen nicely. The peppers and aubergines are doing OK too.
