    Can I save these from the bin?

    I tidied up a seldom used cupboard today and found some poor, abandoned Vivaldi seed spuds.

    Oh dear....





    Can these be salvaged and grown on in Morrisson's buckets or is it the bin for them?

    They are the wrong sort of sprouts as they are white, why don't you try and break them off and plant them up and see what happens, it is worth a bash, better than chucking them chuck!
    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

      I had some like that in the veg drawer of my refrigerator. They were in a net. I was saving them along with some others in a brown paper bag to plant up for Christmas spuds. They say that you can pull those off 5 or 6 times before they give up. The ones in a brown paper bag seem to be replacing the sprouts more slowly.

        Chuck em in and give them a chance. Maybe break the shoots off half and do a comparison.

          Hi Amanda

          Just plant them as they are and you will still get a good crop of tattys off them, I did that last year and had a great crop off them just make sure you bury all the shoots.

              Ok, I'll dig out some black buckets, pop a spud in the bottom on each and genty fill the buckets with compost trying not to break the shoots.

                  I did the same with neglected seed potatoes - no problems, good crop!!
