  • Boltardy beetroot- bolting !

Why name a beetroot boltardy if it darnwell bolts ? Or is it just me ? I have no idea why this should happen as I grow in a tub and keep watered. Not in full sun all day.

My Boltardy is in the ground, I don't water it or feed it and it isn't bolting, plants bolt when they are stressed, perhaps yours is stressed because it is in a tub ?

Overwatering? Not enough nutrients in the pot (probably not likely, as I've put beetroot in compost used previously for potatoes). But yes, something must be stressed it. Any pests damaging the roots? Perhaps it could have dried out, inbetween waterings.

My Boltardy is bolting also! And its in the ground!

They are large though bigger than tennis balls, and not ALL are bolting.

I think its because I started them in modules too early thinking that because they were Boltardy they couldn't bolt!

When you come to think about it, I don't think they are a biennial so they are just doing what comes natural.

They should maybe rename them Boltresistant!
