100% germination! thats a first for me.

    100% germination! thats a first for me.

    Hi all

    I checked my sweet corn this morning planted in root riot cubes and I have had 100% germination, this is the first time I have ever had 100% germination from anything.

    The corn is black seneca which is an open pollinated variety.

      You just need to work out your block planting regime now to suit the amount of plants you have!

          For some reason I seem to have had particularly good germination this year in general, I usually plant about double what I need so am now filling my brother's greenhouse as well as my own this year!

          Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

          Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

            I was thinking that myself Alison - everything I've double sown has come through, so I've got far more plants than I need! I wonder if that Gardening Which trial had some effect? Some of the seed companies got a bit of a slating for their low germination rates I think?

                      I sowed 30 sweetcorn into 2 x 15 modual trays & only 15 came up so i moved all into one & sowed 15 more & they all came up....!

                            Same here I love it as well especially with melted butter.
                            I just put another 25 of a different variety in a cup of water to get them going, and I am awaiting delivery of 5 other open pollinated varieties from america so by the time I am done I should have around 200 growing.
