  • Cat repellant

I have four cats and much as I love them I need to stop them digging in the veg patch. Quite by chance I have discovered that they don't like the smell of coffee grounds. I spread some, and I have a lot, on a newly prepared bed and the cats so far haven't been near it.

    Long may or last!!!!!!

Will it lose it's deterrent properties as it ages or if it rains?

I've also found they don't like the smell of chicken poop pellets if you spread that around liberally. It does smell a bit though after it rains

You will drive all the worms away and your soil could suffer, not too sure that this is a long term solution. A Rottweiler would work.........................

I just would like to keep them off while the seeds germinate. Waterpistol works as well but I'm not there all the time to use it. They will learn!!!!!!

Not sure I agree with you there Burnie as worms love coffee grounds and they act as a fertiliser and slugs hate them!

I'm sure Jim McColl said that too much coffee grounds(granted he was talking about a compost bin) would drive away the worms and the composting would not be so good, could have misheard him .
