  • Problem with brocoli and blueberries

My broccoli, which looked quite healthy the other day, has developed yellow lower leaves and the other leaves are covered in tiny holes in the middle of the leaves, rather than at the edges. I can't see any bugs on them.

Also, my blueberries don't look very healthy, all the leaves are going brown.

    Help! Any advice???

    Hi,

On the Broccoli I have had this happen with my Purple Sprouting (PSB), they are just producing now..

    So it could be:

1)Yellowness is caused by a mineral deficincy (unlikely) what are the rest of your leaves like?
2)Yellowness is caused by over shadowing (likely). In my case the light getting to the lower leaves of the PSB means they just drop off, natural process.

    Holes:
1)Could be down to caterpillars are your broccoli's covered?
    2)Flea beetle or something similar.

I would not worry too much beyond cosmetics if established, if not established and small cover them up if possible.

Brassicas are very resiliant, we transplanted some back in March after half our bed was destroyed by birds, and they are now producing massive heads (See latest blog entry for a piccie).

    Thanks
    Dave
