It's been about a month since my last blog entry so here's a brief update on what's been happening.
The Major news is that I now have a mains water supply - it's taken 19 months but in the end I got fed up arguiong with Scottish Water and just connected it all up myself (I did this in a previous job so know what I'm doing)
Summer crops are dying a death just now - a few courgettes left, broad beans completely cleared today, enough cukes to take to the Farmers Market this Saturday then that will be the end of them too.
Winter crops are looking good - in fact, though I say it myself, my savoy cabbages, winter cabbages, red and green kale are all outstanding.
The passing trade has died off now so I have taken on two part time gardening jobs to help see me over the winter and hopefully reduce my overdraft by a bit so I can start to increase it again in Spring !!
Maggie and the girls have bennin Belfast this week so I have capitalised on their absence by cooking chutneys and preserves etc my full range now reads as follows - Apple and Mint Jelly, Apple and Chiilli Jelly, Picallili, Sweet Chutney, Pickled Onions, Pickled Beetroot, Pickled Cucumber, Rowan Jelly, Bramble Jelly, Hot Chilli Sauce.
And tonight I shall be making Carrot and Lentil soup followed by Wellie's Courgette and Potato Soup, both of which will be sold at the Farmers Market on Saturday too.
Other than that I have sown more lettuce and Pak Choi in the tunnel, and am continuing to build raised beds as floor space becomes clear.
That's about it - any spare time I can be found with my hoe in my hand, working my way towards freeing my leeks and Spring Greens from their chickweed infested ridges
Adieu, but not farewell...........
