    Wet 'n' Windy

Didn't do a lot today - cleared rubbish and debris from polytunnel staging and below it. Then went to the County Ploughing Match which this year was only two fields away from mine - not really a spectator sport unless you know about ploughing etc or know the competitors - I fall into the first category a bit and the second one a lot. Good craic - farmers getting drunk by 2 pm !! Charity auction where farmers / ploughmen , all roaring drunk, bid outlandish amounts of dosh for things they either don't really want or really need, but just to be seen to bid higher than the guy standing next to him. There's a dance tonight which is usually pretty outrageous, but I have to go to my job as a bouncer - in fact if I don't leave now I'll be late. Later dudes...........

      Hi sewer rat,

Just read your whole blog. Growing veggies up there sounds like sheer heaven. Had to laugh at your farmer comment. We are serious countryside lovers but the garening has always been my thing. Then David started to build veg plots for me to grow in, then I started to dream of future chooks. (A passion still to be fulfilled, just need 18 months to build my business up there and hopefully we can buy something bigger.) And so on, the dream grows, pigs get mentioned, ducks, cows.... All of a sudden, present job security means less, a job up north is landed and my daughter and I are noses to the chook books!!!

I'm not thinkin about chooks but am hoping to get half a dozen Tamworth X pigs to fatten up next year. They can eat all the trimmings and surplus veg, as well as their pig nuts, and they'll dig up the ground and fertilise it as they go. Win win win all round - til they have to go down the road for Christmas !!

      Hi Sewer rat,
I agree, they'll enjoy hoovering the food and they'll taste great because of it. Will you have a go at maybe building a smoker and smoking some ham??? Or maybe some sausages in your boxes at a later date??? David really fancies getting some pigs. I'm going to have to Reflex a lot of feet when our girls are settled in school to get this extra land.
