All the above today, and a cold cold wind - still at least my IBC tanks are being replenished. See what I mean about turning into a farmer - never happy with the weather !
Today I delivered weekly ration of veg to the local shop in Portmahomack, along with 10 dozen eggs - another ten dozen on Friday.
Went for a crop inspection this morning to decide what will go into the veg boxes this week. They will contain the following - potatoes, carrots, onions, cabbage, white turnips, parsley and courgettes. The larger boxes will also have the first of the leeks, lettuce, spring onions and possibly a Chinese Cabbage.
My courgettes will probably be finished after this week but given that it will be into November, I can't really grumble.
The winter crops are a bit slow, probably due to the lack of water since August, but hopefully they'll have put down a good root system which will allow them to take full advantage of the forecast rains, so helping them to catch up.
Went through my seed boxes today to work out what I need to purchase. Immediate purchase is garlic, everything else can wait til Spring. Can't decide on a garlic variety - any recommendations ???
Delivered 9 boxes tonight but got home early as it was dark at 5 so started my deliveries early
Put up Halloween decorations with Iona and tomorrow we shall be carving her pumpkin to sit in the window.
Did anyone read the Sunday times this weekend ? Very intersting article on organic trials - I'll put a post in general chit chat if no-one else had already done so.
Bye for now
