  • Castor oil - 'Ricinus'

Once again they are yours for the asking but in case anybody is not aware of what these are then you should note:

    1) They are not very hardy perennials so are best grown as annuals in the UK.

    2) These are the green ones not the red ones which aren't hardy at all even in a cool summer.

THIS IS RICINUS NOT FATSIA SO SHOULD NOT BE GROWN IN AN AREA WHERE YOUNG CHILDREN OR DOMESTIC 'CHEW ANYTHING' ANIMALS CAN GET ACCESS. All parts of Ricinus communis are poisonous (i.e. it would make an adult ill or kill a small child) if ingested in only moderate quantities even though castor oil is made from it. The seeds are particularly noxious. Having said that, wild life does not touch the plants, except slugs which as usual seem immune, so you are OK there. But it is very attractive and quite large in just one year.

As always if you want some just PM me. Wife/husband poisoners need not apply.
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
