I am excited about growing Okra for the first time next year. I will be putting in the seeds in mid spring,

Does anyone know a good use for them though?
I know they can go into soups, but as a summer crop, I want to avoid that.

Also I plan to be picking them young, but as I get to the lottie only on weekends, some may get a bit older, so recipes with this in mind would be great.

They're nice in a curry, either left whole or cut into rings.
    Location....East Midlands.

Here are a few good looking recipes:

I've done one from an indian recipe book before; fried with tomatoes. Very nice indeed.

I've included them in a big stir-fry occasionally. Works pretty good. Cut into chunks about as long as they are wide. Cooking time about 3 mins (I always work out how long each veg needs, then add them in order according, mushrooms only need 1˝ mins, carrot needs at least 4 unless you can slice ultra-thin)
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Fab-u-lus!!! I love curries and stir fries. (Got a wok a little while ago, as my frying pan was just not big enough)

Also, I am expecting there to be seeds inside, something akin to chillies. Is that right and do I leave them in or take them out?

Just chop the stalk off, the rest is edible, just cook them whole or sliced, but you don't need to do any more prep' than removing the stalk.

I am also thinking about growing okra, please let us know how you get on. Will you be growing it in a poly tunnel or greenhouse or out on your plot?

                I like mine stir fried.

I'm not using poly tunnel or a green house yet. Will be at least 2 years before I get to that. I don't have even a shed yet on the plot, only one in the back garden.
Just putting everything out on the plot at the moment and hoping for the best.
If anything needs a bit of 'nurturing' it will be started in pots in the house, thats the best I can manage just now.
Looking forward to a bit of company with you Dolly. How will you be growing yours?

I hope to try one plant in the greenhouse and see how it goes (i know one plant, but you should see what i want to grow in the thing and how much space i have.....nightmare)

I will be looking out for your updates as if it works outside that would be better.
