...okay, I'll guess then...

either way, I wouldn't add chocolate to your batter because it will just burn in the frying pan, and burnt chocolate is disgusting.

...and I tend to put blueberries in a saucepan with a touch of sugar and water. heat til the berries start to soften and release their juice, then add a bit of cornflower to thicken and pour over the top of pancakes.

Milk, eggs, flour, pinch of sea salt, bit of baking soda if doing fluffy ones. I'll use buttermilk if I make butter.

I prefer the thin, English-style ones to the thick, fluffy American-style.

I just bought some blueberries, but didn't bother with the chocolate chips.

Made some the other day for breakfast from a Faye Ripley recipe.

Don't think we're having pancakes tonight as I made some pies t'other day and they need eating.

Now I know why Mr. G insisted on taking the eggs to sell at work today. He thinks it'll get him out of making Pancakes, the g*t!

You don't HAVE to have them today. It'd take an army to keep me from making pancakes. I've normally made them by the first weekend in February, but somehow I forgot this year.

I know but it's a bit like mince pies. Why do we only have them at Christmas ?

Very true. i suppose it's to keep them special, otherwise you wouldn't look forward to them. But so long as you don't have pancakes throughout the year, I don't think the local villagers are going to go on a witch hunt because they heard you had pancakes on Ash Wednesday

I'm sure ....just don't think of having them any other time of the year. Perhaps I'm not really a pancake person.
