I have been told that broad bean pods can be picked while young and eaten as one would mange tout. Is this correct?

Allegedly. I don't like them myself - a bit furry - like eating young mice - I imagine!
Some people swear by them. You'd have to try them yourself. Best I can say is, they're not toxic!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

I grew broadies last year and ate some whilst they were still young, a bit more bulked out than mange tout and they were fine, but in the end preferred to get the beans proper so left them to grow!"A cat sees no good reason why it should obey another animal, even if it does stand on two legs."Comment
