Can i boil all of the veg peelings we use at home and then feed them to my two cockerals?

..I would say yes, my friend Jean does this (she gets veg waste from a cafe) boils it and mixes it with mash. Her hens love it!! there's only a few things they won't eat, can't remember what now................. -
mine eat most veg peelings raw with the exception of potatoes.
Lets teach kids to cook.

Mine will eat all veg peel (greengrocers waste in my case) just given a couple of mins boil. Then I stir in some porridge oats (cheapest 'value' ones) and a spoonful of garlic powder and stick the lid back on, by the time it's gone to warm it thickens up and you get all the goodness of the veg water too. They love it, and its a good before bed treat in winter cos it fills tums to keep them warm so they dont loose weight.Anyone who says nothing is impossible has never tried slamming a revolving doorComment

I chuck most of mine in raw, but occasionally cook something like an old broccoli stalk. My bantam horde (who are the usual recipients of scraps as they are closest to house, the LF are out in the field) will eat pretty much anything, raw or cooked.Comment

I cook my peelings first. Greens go in as are. In winter, I do what hilly does and make a porridge up for my girls. They seem to enjoy everything I give them.Bernie aka DDL

i mix mine with the cheapest rice you can get,especially in the cold weather,its absolute bedlam in the evening when they get their veg & rice,they laid thru all that cold winter,we were only about 3/4 eggs down from max each week,and that was from 7,went 4 weeks with 7 a day,only tailed off a bit when the weather warmed up a bit,the original blackrocks are now really heavy,twice the weight of the warrens,and we are getting eggs to match,so far,so it seems to work..Comment

Been hoping for free p&p, missed out a few weeks ago - we were in Cyprus, where we saw some 'Fernleaf' lavender. Looks really nice. So I thought I'd look for some plugs/plants when we got back.
