  • New Hens!

Hi Everyone, and thankyou for all your replies earlier.

After looking into things a lot we now have 3 Light Sussex hens. We picked them up on Monday evening. They are very cute- 11 weeks old (so a bit of a wait for eggs, but plenty of time to get to know them). They came straight out of the coop when I opened it on Tuesday morning- not at all cautious! I'm sure I will regret saying this when they are bigger , but, they are really really quiet?! They make little squeaks, and are far quieter than the birds in the garden!

We haven't named them yet, we are having a "choose the names" day at the weekend.

We are planning on letting them have more access to the garden this weekend- I am very excited!

Oh well done They might not be at the "chookbokchook" stage of talking yet, my little Welsummers are 3 months and they're not doing it yet either. In fact the only noises they make is when they complain about Basil trying to bonk them as soon as they come out of the coop
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

Old? He's only about 21 weeks and only been crowing for a couple of weeks - he's got that off to a fine art now though!! Must be either a "teenage" thing, or a male thing (no matter what species )

Mine often sound like Pingu (kids' telly character.) If you know what I mean, you'll know what I mean!

I am definitely addicted! So is the rest of the family!

My son says they do sound a bit like Pingu?! They were a bit louder when they met Ice Cream our cat! Ice Cream wasn't entirely happy about things, either!

It's a good job I didn't do much housework anyway, because I'm not doing any now!!!
