The first of many and they will be the best eggs that you ever tasted. I remember our first we were over the moon and still get a buzz from collecting the eggs.
Enjoy keeping your hens, we do and feel very lucky.

Funny thing that...........I, along with most others will have a piccie of our first egg somewhere on the computer!

Enjoy them Bernie and don't be like my OH who had to see some famous television chef collect her own eggs for cooking before SHE realised it was the DONE thing to GYO!

I didn't eat my first eggs for days. I couldn't stop looking at them and admiring them and touching them. When I did eat them I managed to cook them to perfection and they were, indeed, the very best eggs I ever tasted

Yep, I keep looking at them as well! Not enough time to have one for breakfast, so am thinking we will have them for tea.

Bernie - want a recipe for cumberland sausage and dry cure bacon to go with the egg???

sat down to that on boxing day morning. doesnt get any better than a home egg, on home made bread, served with my own bacon and sausage - if only i could grow coffee in the polytunnel.....................................

I never thought of weighing them, I've just looked and stroked them a few times! I had boiled eggs and soldiers for my tea.

The yolks were a beautiful golden colour.

Bernie, I still weigh mine.

When they were first laying they were 34g-39g but once a week a 53-59g was left. It made my eyes water on their behalf.

Them's only little banties too!

Seem to have settled into 43g-47g now. If you lurk and loiter long enough you'll be able to see who lays what and recognise each girls' output
