  • Feeling sad but ok

I'm feeling sad this morning as I found my little ex-batt hen Blondie dead this morning. She has been ailing for some time and yesterday was reluctant to go to bed.
I feel sort of ok about it as she has had 20 months of freedom and even on her last day of life yesterday she was sunbathing and dust bathing and enjoying scratting about in the soil and grubbing in the grass. Such a lovely sparky little personality, she'll be missed.
    Be happy Blondie x

I'm always sad to hear when they go but I know what funny, sparky little characters they are. I wouldn't be without mine. You'll have many happy times to remember her by. Big hugs,

(((((Big hugs)))))Sue. Just think 20 months of the good life. She could have been one of the unlucky ones and not had chance to experience that.

Only just read your thread Sue, I'm so sorry to hear your news. As you said, she had very happy last days, and you've got to be grateful for that.

                            Thanks everyone for your support.
I'll always have some ex-batts in my flock. I'm now down to 3 of the original 12 from Jan 2008 so planning for a few more in the Spring.
