    Thinning out and transplanting

    Hi guys,

    Couple of pictures below taken this morning;

    My mangetout



    My radishes



    Questions I have are;

    Do either need to be thinned out (thinking more about the radishes here)?

    Could I transplant the mangetout into a bigger container?
    I have a couple of pots that are about 30cm diameter and I thought about putting 2-3 in each and then trying to put in bamboo shoots so it gives a wigwam affect. Would they be ok with the disturbance?

    I think the radishes are ok as they are, unless there are any that are growing right on top of each other. Peas could do with a bit more depth for their roots, although not necessarily space between them. your pot sounds ideal. Peas won't climb up bamboo canes on their own. They climb using tendrils to grip and pull themselves up. Bamboo is just too smooth. You could wind some garden twine around your bamboo so they have something to grip on to or wrap some netting round the wigwam. They won't mind being transferred, just disturb the roots as little as you can and water well afterwards.

        what you could do, is plant the peas at the correct spacing (about 5cm apart from each other) and then sow your radish seed in the gaps.

        They grow to different heights so won't crowd each other, plus the radish are up & out pretty quickly
