I have a gooseberry bush that I bought from Wilkos and I'm wondering when I should plant it out. Should it be planted out now like a fruit tree? Or should I wait until the danger of frost has passed? There is green growth on the plant and I don't want to kill it.

Plant feb-march gan, I normally use the rule that if they are in the shop they should be close to planting date.

I always harden them off if they'e come from a shop like wilkos, as they will have been inside in the warm for a while. Otherwise the shock of it just going straight outside may kill it!

Plant it now, but make sure you soak the roots in a bucket of water for a couple of hours first.

Hardening off is not really necessary unless plantimg in late Jan early Feb. If you do as Rustylady says and just soak for a couple of hours then it will get a head start. If you forget then you won't kill it as long as you water it in well. It won't fruit for a year or two anyway. Gardening teaches patience.
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

Is the hardening off process just a case of putting new bushes in an outside shed for a day or two before planting ??

The usual way is to put the plant outside during the day and bring it in at night for a couple of weeks. But gooseberries are as hard as nails and don't need it. I'm currently hardening off my corn seedlings, which do. In fact that will go on for a month. Persevering, us gardeners.
