  • Capillary Matting ?

I bought 2 window sill propagators on recommendation from another thread.(Thanks Dinno)
Well impressed with the contents .
I have sown Onion seeds in them and they appear to be doing well, sown on 31/10/17 germinated in 10/12 days and now 2.5/3'' high.
Still in the prop' and under Lights.
However, I did'nt put the Capillary mats in ..!!!!
(So keen to get em started !!)
Question is .....will I put mats under now ?
Do mats make a difference ??

Capillary mats help with watering, hold water and its absorbed by the seed trays above. They're not critical, just help you to water less frequently.

That's my version of it anyway!

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
