  • Tomato taste.

Has any one else noticed the different taste in there toms. Bought a couple of growbags with no peat a good make and used them to fill my pots. When finished I used my usual peat compost. The growbag tomato's taste burnt and are not very nice to eat. The peat based ones taste as they should. Both are from the same batch of seedlings and are near each other.

Mine taste normal but I have used my usual peat compost. I would be devastated if they lost their taste.

Tomato taste seems heavily dependent on nutrient levels in the compost/soil, and extra feeding can make a big difference.
I suspect your grow bags were lacking. A good brand doesn't necessarily mean good compost.

Mine are grown entirely in peat-free compost and (i am assured by the tomato-consuming element) taste very nice.

I feed them, weekly with tomorite, and home-made weed tea every so often.
