  • Hey.....I'm back. It's been a while (years!)

Hi there all you grapes, just wanted to say hello to friends old and new on here. I've had a very long break from veg growing - life gets in the way sometimes - but so happy to write my first post in some years.

We've recently moved and this year I've been growing all the veg I can in a tiny postage stamp garden which has been so much fun. Over the winter I hope to get a larger area into production once we've braved the brambles and weeds.

My precious seed collection is pretty much out of date, but I managed to buy some lettuce plants from the HSL so will be aiming to save seed from Bath Cos, Stoke, Oakleaf and Buttercrunch plus Red Orach and other bits and bobs with a view to having some to share later in the year.

Chatting and comparing notes on here was always so nice, it's good to be back
All at once I hear your voice
    And time just slips away

              Hi and welcome back.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Muckdiva, have you seen RealSeeds advice about saving lettuce seeds - basically keep varieties separated by about 12 feet or plant something tall between them .
