  • Nestcam recommendations?

Had a nest box at the end of the garden, full of blue tit chicks by
the amount of journeys the adults made to the fastballs we put out.
The chicks flew the nest yesterday we think, and next time we want
to watch inside. Have electricity within 30ft, so has anyone
    recommendations for a nestcam?

Are you after a camera to install in the nest box to video the chicks or one to put outside to record the coming and going of the parents?

If it's inside then you will need a camera that records IR light and an IR light source.

Remember that there are various laws regarding disturbing nests or that relate to photographing /videoing nests so you may want to Google those.

You'll also probably have to modify the bird box to be able to install the camera.

Challenge yourself. Make one with a Raspberry Pi. https://mynaturewatch.net.

I made a movement sensing camera using one and put it on my feeders. Got lots of pictures of various birds.

          I almost suggested that myself.

If youuused a stereo-pi you can get the inside and outside shots at the same time. Use motion detection and a video buffer to trigger recording on movement.

I’m hoping to install it *in* the nest box. The box is 5” by 5” by 6” deep, covered by an
upturned vee roof rising to 12” above the nest box floor in the centre, so hopefully
            plenty of room.
Anyone any experiences of internal cameras please?
