They need a lot of feed and a lot of water, so plenty of manure in there before you plant it.

I bet that would work well.
Rhubarb in my opinion is a striking plant to look at as well. Try to hold off pulling any stalks the first year though to let it get going.
I’m off to pull some of mine right now to make into a breakfast compote!

They need splitting occasionally so can re manure pot at that time. Think it's very underated, very healthy, lots of output for little effort bar splitting which mine now need

I'd go for yes, we had one very happily growing in a large metal cabinet which was full of soil down the side of a shed, was there when we arrived at the house and was still producing enough rhubarb for our family of 4 for about 15 years. We literally did nothing to it in that time. It eventually died but God knows how long it had been there before then

My rhubarb is in its second year in a much smaller pot than you are proposing (maybe 35cm diameter at the top). It seems to be doing fine. I'm not expecting to harvest huge quantities, but enough for my purposes until I have a garden where I can plant it in the ground. I might move it to a bigger pot next year.

Here it is more than three weeks ago (it's quite a bit bigger now):

How often do they need splitting and what time of year do you split them?

I'm under the impression it's every 5 to 6 years when they are winter dormant.

You’ll know when the time comes. It will stop producing so much and look unhappy. When that happens you could get away for another year by feeding it but really dividing and replanting would be the best thing. I reckon if it’s in s large pot you have several years before that happens.
