Hello i have recently joined grapevine and live in Swalwell I have a very small back garden but grow much of my own organic fruit and veg mainly in pots. I am desperately in need of an allotment . Can you please get back to me and inform me if any are available. I was out walking my dog today and saw an allotment by the river on the other side of the metal footbridge on the Blaydon side of the river it looked overgrown but a nice plot can you please advice.
    Thanks Edward Bewick

Hi Eddie, this post is 2 years old. The Op hasn't visited since nov12. It may well be worth contacting your local council and putting yourself on a waiting list.

I've always fancied a plot on this site as it encompasses my two main interests allotments and fishing! The allotments are next to the tidal stretch of the river Derwent (one of four Derwents in the UK I believe?)which is a tributary to the river Tyne.

Allotment bliss to me would be sitting in my allotment on the banks of a fishable river!

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
