Default Leaf miner in young beets?

I have some very young beetroot still in the seed cells not planted and yet the leaves are being eaten from the inside by some kind of leaf miner. Now my experience of leaf miner happens later in the summer, not this early. I also see tell tale white eggs laid by the fly on the underside of the leaves which are not showing on these young plants so what on earth can it be ?

I had leaf minor in my beetroot seedlings several years ago. I picked of and binned the affected ones.

This is the usual time to get it.

Are you sure you can see white eggs under the leaves? Where are you keeping your seedlings? Any photos?

I'd be tempted to bin and start again. It's very early in the season and beetroot grows pretty quick.

No need to bin them. Just picked off the leaves like you aid. Keep them in greenhouse and outside with a mesh over them now. Again, i always get white eggs on underside of leaves but this time they are not there and its too early in the season for my experience of leaf miner.
