  • Apple and elderberry wine

I have a sizeable glut of both of these and wondered if combined they might make a decent wine. I find elderberry on it's own a bit heavy and thought maybe the apple would make it a bit lighter.

Anyone got any thoughts or tips?

Never tried it, but can't see any reason it shouldn't work!

That's definitely worth a try. I would boil the chopped apples for 20 mins and just use the liquor - I wouldn't try mashing them up.

grand plan - once I've bottled last years pear wine (this afternoon's job) and rescued the pea pod from overflowing, I'll get right on to it.

        anyone any ideas of quantities?

I made apple and cranberry with chopped up apples fermented in a bucket for a week, then filtered and mixed with 2l cranberry juice. Blooming lovely it is too.
