  • Newbie to The Grapevine, newbie to gardening!

    Hi all,
I am a brand spanking new gardener!! I have just bought my first house (moved in 3 weeks ago! ) and am now itching to make my mark on the garden.
It is largely a concrete jungle which makes me sad and will hopefully change in time, but I have narrow borders at each side, a few wall-mounted container things, one raised bed, and lots and lots of tubs left by previous owner full of dead plants. Plus one with an agapanthus (??) with a massive bud on just waiting to bloom! Currently the only things thriving are weeds, plus a small holly tree/bush (hooray how apt!) and 1 white lily of some sort.
Anyway, look ofrward to chatting about how badly I'm doing (if I can get out there and leave the house stuff to the boyf!) and hopefully picking everyones brains for help, advice, chat etc!
Oooh and also please forgive my manic screaming with horror next time time I get dive-bombed by all the stag beetles!! I should imagine I'll have lots of questions/pix/posts about them!!
    See you around

    Hi there!
I'm new to all this too, i'm using my parent's garden, which only a few weeks ago looked like a weed plantation. It took me a few days (and lots of back and leg ache lol) to clear it and i was going to grow flowers but they don't interest me mutch so i thought i'd try veg and now i seem to have gotten carried away lol. I get all excited about if they will sprout and grow properly.

You lucky thing you have a whole garden to yourself, i hope you go crazy with growing things. keep in touch and let me know how it goes and i'll do the same

    Happy Gardening

Hello Holly. Have fun in your new garden. Don't be afraid to ask for advice. We all learn from others and by experience. There's always someone on here who will have the answer to your question. The grapes are a great bunch (no pun intended).
It is the doom of man, that they forget.
