  • Hi from West Norfolk

I am new to this site, and hope I can glean some info on how to grow veggies in tiny raised beds and containers, as I have no room in my tiny garden to have a proper veggie plot.
I grew potatoes that grew 'legs' this year, as I did not use them up quick enough, and planted them in old car tyres my son had laying about unwanted. They did not do too badly, and a cucumber is now growing in their place. All very trial and error though. I am not a good gardener, but with things as they are, I must now try to be as good as my husband was, and wish I had taken more note of what he was doing - so if anyone else is reliant on a person, learn too and don't regret it later!
I have had some bean seeds given to me, and so I need some kind person to tell me when to plant them out please.

They are: Tiger Dwarf Beans, Emu Climbing Bean, Paul Bunyon Giant Bean and The Prince Dwarf Bean....... Will they be treated like most beans and planted indoors April time or outside after frosts in May/June????

I would ask the person who gave them to me, but they are travelling abroad now for a year, and I may not have contact till their return.!!!!
Meanwhile I am reading up books to try to learn what else I can do in a small area, but there does not seem to be much out there unless I have the wrong books of course!!

Looking forward to reading more on this site.

    Hi from East Norfolk.
Yes, beans get sown in April, & planted outside after your last frost

Hi Kiwi - I garden in a tiny garden in containers (mainly) too. We have the odd 'proper' thing - some raised beds which aren't quite right for veg, and a lovely big damson tree. You'll find a whole world of useful info here!
