  • Why are Herbs growing ?

Hello all I haven't been on this informative forum for a while.

To cut along story short I have a very shady gravelly section of soil , when my herbs have died or near dying , I lazily throw them there.

    Usually only weeds grow there

However Red vein Sorrel , Chervil and lovage has grown quite spectacularly , actually much better than I can ever achieve in a pot.

I thought I would share this and see if any have similar experiences

Red sorrel spreads everywhere - its a bit of a pest.
Lovage is not quite as bad but, if you let it flower and set seed, the seeds scatter. Its a toughie!
Don't know anything about chervil as I've never grown it successfully.

Sounds like your off to a good start this year, Tarragon.

Veggie to be honest , I am not growing much as I plan to move house , sadly to a smaller place ,

I have Parsley growing still , and my chives sprouting , ,a little bit of tarragon , mint , rosemary , oregano and thyme

However I will miss the asian herbs and basil and coriander this year, and paying for herbs is so expensive

I also have red vein sorrel, grows really well wherever it puts itself.
Actually, whats the best way to eat it?

You can grow most of those on your windowsill so, when you move, make sure its somewhere with big sunny windowsills.
